What is Octodoc?

Octodoc is the world’s first hybrid telemedicine solution. By using the smart online platform, you benefit from your own online “medical office” for consultations, you also manage appointments and medical files more easily. Plus, with the help of the multifunctional kiosk, patients can perform routine tests remotely, so you will be able to access useful real-time medical data such as: temperature, oxygen saturation, blood pressure, etc.

Is there a cost to register for the Octodoc doctors’ network or is this free of charge?

Octodoc aims to support the entire medical community, registering for the national network of Octodoc doctors is free.

How do I increase my professional income with Octodoc?

Whether you are a family doctor or an MD, you will reach more patients who live far away and can’t come to your medical office often enough. Basically, you substantially expand the number of consultations and increase your income by providing telemedicine counselling.

How does Octodoc help me run my practice faster and more efficiently?

The Octodoc app* helps you manage patient files more easily. You have all the history at hand and you can electronically issue prescriptions and medical recommendations – all with maximum data security. Even more, the dedicated customer support team will help you with managing appointments. You will simplify your daily work and you will have more time for your medical practice.

What is an interactive pre-consult with a video call center agent?

The patient’s pre-consult will be performed by the customer service team. A video call center agent will validate the health card in the system, check patient data and make any needed info updates. Upon request, the agent will guide the patient to easily perform routine tests using the Octodoc device (e.g. blood pressure, oxygen saturation, temperature, etc). You will be able to view all the information generated by the pre-consult before making video contact with the patient.

How is a video consultation with the patient conducted?

Video consultations are available by appointment only, taking place on the dates and times set in the Octodoc calendar. You will have full transparency and control over your telemedicine counselling schedule.

After the pre-consult with a call center agent, you will start a video discussion with your patient, in which you can assess his health to make medical recommendations based on specific needs and symptoms. At the end of the telehealth consultation, the patient will be able to print the necessary documents at the Octodoc kiosk- for example: prescription renewal, recommendations for further medical investigations or procedures, etc.

How long does an Octodoc video consultation with the patient last?

You have full control over the duration, a video consultation session with the patient can last up to 45 minutes.

What technical skills do I need to be able to use Octodoc?

To connect to the Octodoc application and provide video consultations you need a good Internet connection and a computer, laptop or tablet with access to a webcam. No complicated technical knowledge is required to use the app, the Octodoc telemedicine system is easy and intuitive. Plus, you will have a team of support agents who can guide you when you need information or technical assistance.

Informative note:
The Octodoc team and our partner network aims to also develop a free IT upgrade program – for doctors to receive free tech equipment. We will come back with news regarding this initiative.

How do I register to be a part of the Octodoc doctors’ network?

GPs and MDs can register for free by sending a message to contact@octodoc.ro or by phone to the dedicated call center line*. Our team will collect all necessary info with maximum data safety standards and will manage the registration process. Even more, we are building a software application that will facilitate program enrolment, medical data and patient appointment management, faster and more efficiently.

Is Octodoc also available for the private medical community?

The Octodoc solution was created for the benefit of the entire medical ecosystem. For information and collaborations you can contact us by e-mail at sales@octodoc.ro.

What are the Octodoc operating hours?
  • The telephone line for scheduling appointments will be open/will be available 7 days a week, between 08:00 and 24:00.
  • The video call center team for Octodoc user assistance and pre-consultation is available: Monday to Friday, from 08:00 to 20:00.
  • For unassisted (self-service) Octodoc routine tests (e.g. blood pressure, oxygen saturation, etc.) – access hours depend on the location of the kiosk (for example: depending on the operating hours of the hospital where the device is installed, etc.).

Where are the Octodoc kiosks installed nationally?

All Octodoc kiosks in Romania will be published online, on the octodoc.ro website, and on Octodoc’s virtual social networks. Information about Octodoc devices will also be available in public hospitals and polyclinics, or in local town halls.

Can I request the installation of Octodoc devices in certain areas or cities in the country?

Octodoc’s ambition is to make it easier for everyone to access telemedicine. Your interest honours us and can change the Romanian medical system for the better. You can contribute to the national Octodoc expansion by requesting the management team of the hospital you work in to get involved, by organizing petitions together with other doctors, or by contacting the local councils from the regions you show interest in. What is Octodoc?

The Octodoc device is the first digital “clinic” that comes closer to you. With the help of advanced technology, you will be able to talk to your doctor more often, without always having to make trips to the medical facility. At the Octodoc kiosk nearby you will benefit from video consultations, medical prescriptions and recommendations, and routine tests (e.g. blood pressure, oxygen saturation, etc.).

Does Octodoc cost anything or is it free of charge (covered by C.A.S.)?

With Octodoc you enjoy all the benefits of your C.A.S. insurance, at no extra cost. You can see the doctor you need for health advice and get the necessary prescriptions and recommendations more easily, all for free.

What documents do I need to be able to use Octodoc?

In order to use the Octodoc services you need a health card and an identity card.

Can I use Octodoc if I don’t have C.A.S. insurance?

At this time, the Octodoc* device is accessible for the C.A.S. insured population. We want everyone to be able to benefit from the Octodoc services, from anywhere in the country. Our team is working on a paid solutions package and will come back with news.

How are the routine medical tests performed at Octodoc?

1. Octodoc for video consultations with doctors.
This type of equipment will be the most widespread in the country in the next period, and has the following functionalities: real-time video assistance, health card reader, medical documents scanning, printing for medical prescriptions, recommendations and reports.

2. Octodoc for video consultations with doctors and routine medical tests.
This type of kiosk is also equipped with tensiometer, thermometer, pulse oximeter, electrocardiograph (ECG), and weight and height measurement system.
You can easily get routine measurements, for free, such as: blood pressure, temperature, oxygen saturation, pulse, etc. If you wish to be assisted by a customer service agent with the routine testing, you can request this directly at the Octodoc nearby, and you will receive guidance on the spot.

What do I need to do to get in touch with my GP?

Medical video consultations are available by appointment only.
You have 3 options to schedule a consult with your doctor:

  1. call the dedicated Octodoc hotline* for free;
  2. use the Octodoc application* (online, from your computer or smartphone);
  3. make an appointment directly at the Octodoc kiosk nearby – with or without the assistance of a customer support agent.

Video consultations with your family doctor are free, by using your health card.

How can I get medical prescriptions for the treatments I need?

Octodoc helps you quickly get the prescriptions you need. Based on a video consultation, your family doctor will issue the necessary documents. You will be able to print everything you need on the spot, for free. Plus, you can benefit from medical recommendations for tests, procedures and investigations -for free or paid, depending on your health situation and the doctor’s advice.

What is an interactive pre-consult with a video call center agent?

At the Octodoc near you, a client service agent will instruct you step by step on how to use the device and enter your medical data into the system. The entire health history will be stored and managed online, all with maximum data security.

Plus, at the Octodoc kiosks equipped for routine medical tests, you can choose to measure your: blood pressure, temperature, oxygen saturation, weight, and more.

How is the video consultation with the doctor conducted?

The doctor you scheduled for will carefully review your medical history, ask you questions, and advise you on how to manage your health problems through a video discussion. At the end, you will be able to print prescriptions and recommendations, or other medical documents that you need for treatment or other investigations and procedures.

How long does an Octodoc video consultation with the doctor last?

A video consultation session with the family doctor can last up to 45 minutes

Can I choose the family doctor I want for a consult with the Octodoc kiosk?

You can benefit from a consultation with doctors registered in the Octodoc medical network. If your GP is affiliated with Octodoc, you can request an appointment with him or her.

Can I also talk to specialized doctors (e.g. oncologist, pulmonologist), or just with family doctors?

Octodoc is currently developing a national partner program involving both GPs and MDs. We’ll come back with news and updated on the progress.

How do I use Octodoc if I have locomotor, vision, or communication impairments?

The modular device is designed to be used from both sitting and standing positions. Octodoc is also friendly for people with locomotor, vision, or communication disabilities – a customer support agent will guide you step by step at the kiosk.

What do I do if I lose my medical prescription?

Your entire medical history is available in the Octodoc database. If you lost the physical prescription issued at Octodoc and its validity has not expired, you can choose to print it again. You can do the same with any other medical document that exists in your user account. Remember that a medical prescription is unique and can only be used once. Use prescriptions from your doctor responsibly to avoid legal consequences that could have penal implications.

Do I need Internet access to use the Octodoc in my area?

Octodoc kiosks have Internet connection and a support team to guide you on all the necessary technical aspects. All you have to do is come to the closest Octodoc with your health card, and a customer service representative will help you step by step through a video chat.

What are the Octodoc operating hours?
